BenQ has really surpassed all my expectations with their lamps. I was lucky to get to test the new BenQ ScreenBar Lite LED Laptop Lamp. Here are my thoughts.
ScreenBar Lite LED Laptop Lamp Review
I was super excited when BenQ reached out to see if I wanted to give their new ScreenBar Lite LED laptop lamp a try. I have been lucky enough to previously test their ScreenBar and ScreenBar Plus lamps. Those are amazing lamps for desktop monitors. So when I found out they now have one for laptops I couldn’t wait to give it a try!
The box it comes in is nice and slim, which is expected for the size.
I was happy to see that it comes in a clear and sturdy case that makes the portability better. I don’t have to worry about it getting damaged in my travels.
The light itself is also slim and very well made. It is definitely a smaller version of the ScreenBar and ScreenBar Plus. I say this because it offers the same power and illumination as the bigger series. Which both surprised and impressed me. The LED light provides 500 lux of lighting, in one of eight different color temperatures ranging from warm 2700k to cool 6500k. Which I think is a great feature.
As you can see in the picture above it really makes a difference when on. And just like the ScreenBar, and ScreenBar Plus, the ScreenBar Lite provides illumination in front of your monitor, and not at your monitor. So there’s no glare.
The ScreenBar Lite is constructed from alloy and plastic, which offers a very light, yet sturdy product. On the front of it there are (very responsive) touch sensitive buttons, which allow you to turn the lamp on/off, control the brightness, and color temperatures, and an ambient light sensor. The feature I like the most is that there is also a button (heart shaped) which let’s you select a favorite setting. To use the favorite setting simply press and hold the heart button until it lights up. It will remember the exact current light setting and use that setting the next time you press it.
There is a clip to the rear, attached to the fitting, which allows you to tilt the lamp up to 85 degrees. This clip will hold the ScreenBar Lite onto the top of your laptop without damaging your monitor in any way. I also like that the clip has an arc that won’t cover your laptop’s camera. The fitting is powered via a pre-wired USB cable, which is about 30-40 cm in length. This is really the only issue I have with this lamp. If I ever need to use it on a bigger laptop (let’s be honest, laptops are getting bigger) the cable may not reach.
Bottom line… other than the cable length issue there is nothing I would change on it. After being able to try all three of their ScreenBar lamps, this one is definitely my favorite! There’s no doubt in my mind that the BenQ ScreenBar Lite is the perfect laptop companion, and it makes working anywhere possible. I highly recommend this to everyone, especially those who spend a lot of time on their laptop.

My daughter is frequently on her computer at night and would really benefit from this. I love that you can control the brightness and color temperatures. It would be so useful!
This would’ve been great on my bed when I had my back surgery… or on my laptop (which i used both). Great review!
This would be great for using my laptop at night. My eyes are not what they used to be.
This is a really cool device! I love that they made one for laptops! This would definitely be really handy to have, especially since most keyboard do not light up. Thank you so much for sharing!
