BenQ ScreenBar Plus e-Reading Lamp Review

I first heard about BenQ back in June when I was looking for a desk lamp. I absolutely loved the ScreenBar lamp I got from them & couldn’t imagine it getting any better. At least that’s what I thought until I tried the BenQ ScreenBar Plus.

The BenQ ScreenBar Plus has many of the great features that the ScreenBar has. It is a really slim horizontal LED lamp that sits on top of any computer monitor and lights up the area in front. It arrived very well packed, I must admit that it was heavier than I expected it to be. It wasn’t overly heavy though. Inside the box I found the lamp, the clip that it uses to attach to the computer monitor, the Desktop Dial, and the USB power cable.

I immediately put it together and placed it on my monitor. I really like how easy this lamp is to put together. It simply snaps into the clip and the clip goes on the monitor. The bar has a power port on the back where you plug in the desktop dial. I really liked how slim it looks and how it fits perfectly on my monitor.

With the control dial, you can adjust the brightness, color temperature and toggle the auto-brightness feature. The dial is simple to use, and the rotating dial also doubles as a power button. The dial has a cord permanently attached to it, this cord has both a standard USB-A for power, and a micro USB for the lamp itself.

With this lamp you have the option of lighting with a cool or warm temperature. Honestly I prefer the cool over the warm temperature. The great thing about the desktop dial is that you can adjust the brightness and temperature in small increments. This makes it easy to get the settings perfect for your liking. What I like the most about both the ScreenBar & the ScreenBar Plus lamps is that they don’t create a glare on the monitor screen. And no matter how you set up the lamps they don’t affect the colors of the monitor screen.

Bottom Line: the BenQ ScreenBar Plus e-Reading lamp exceeded my expectations, and it does exactly what its advertised to do! Unlike a traditional desk lamp, the ScreenBar Plus will make sure that light from the bar doesn’t end up on your screen to cause any kind of glare. You can control the color temperature of the light bar, and the light bar will always auto-dim depending on your ambient light conditions.
