Dragonwatch: A Fablehaven Adventure by Brandon Mull

My boys and I love dragons so I was intrigued when I heard about this book. I liked that the dragons are the villains in this story. This is a clean yet intense adventure book. It is definitely a book that I would and have let my older boys read. I am sure the little one will want to read it once he’s reading at this level. If you like adventure and fantasy books this is definitely a book you are going to want to read. It is the first book in in the five-book sequel series to Fablehaven. The best part is it just released today!

Dragonwatch: A Fablehaven Adventure takes readers to a hidden dragon sanctuary in North America called Wyrmroost where Celebrant the Just, King of the Dragons, is plotting his revenge. He has long seen dragon sanctuaries as prisons and not havens. Now, he longs to overthrow his captors and return to the Age of Dragons. The time has come to break free and reclaim his power.

There is one group who can put an end to Celebrant’s threat: Dragonwatch, a group of wizards, enchantresses, and dragon slayers who originally confined the majority of dragons into sanctuaries. Just one problem—Dragonwatch members are gone.

Enter: Kendra and Seth Sorenson, the siblings who live on their grandparent’s farm in Connecticut, yet whose lives are far from ordinary. Kendra and Seth were first introduced to readers in the five-book Fablehaven series that became wildly popular among fans, selling over 3.5 million copies worldwide. What makes Kendra and Seth so unique is the fact that they can see the fairy world that surrounds them — from unicorns and ogres to trolls and fairies, while their cousins see only horses, goats and bears.

Now, Kendra and Seth are back in the highly-anticipated series sequel Dragonwatch: A Fablehaven Adventure [March 14, 2017, Shadow Mountain Publishing] for more magical and suspenseful excitement.

When their Grandpa Sorenson is sought out for help to defeat Celebrant, Kendra and Seth step in to confront this new danger. They must draw upon all their skills, talents, and knowledge to tame the wild and powerful dragons and, together, will battle against forces with superior supernatural powers and breathtaking magical abilities. The safety of the human race rests on their shoulders.

Author Brandon Mull, a literacy advocate and father of four, has created a world steeped in mythical, mysterious, and page-turning adventures that fans just can’t get enough of.

“The idea for Dragonwatch evolved over the past few years, and it eventually became a story I had to share,” Mull says. “This story is the first installment in a five-book series.”

Dragonwatch will appeal to both children and adults, as it ultimately touches the heart, thanks to compelling characters, intricate relationships, and overcoming larger-than-life problems.

“The key to fantasy,” says Mull, “is to find the humanity within it.”

  1. I know that this is a series that I would enjoy reading. First have to find and read his previous books.
