Guion the Lion by Rebecca Wilson Macsovits ~ Book Review
One thing that I have always taught my boys is to love, accept, and respect everyone. No matter who they are, or how they look everyone is special and unique. On so many occasions my boys have made me proud to see that they stick up for other kids even if they don’t know them.
I was happy to receive the book Guion the Lion to review. This is such a wonderful book. It is full of colorful illustrations and the story is great. This book was read and enjoyed by my boys (ages 9-15) and both my nieces (ages 3 & 8). It kept them engaged and glued to the story.
We all loved that at the end of the story there was is a section with questions about the book and one about activities. We all loved it!
Guion the Lion is now available on Amazon, and the Guion the Lion website.
About the Book
Guion The Lion, a new children’s book that celebrates the differences in all children through a colorful and exciting journey was launched today by mother, entrepreneur, and author Rebecca Wilson Macsovits. The book, which follows the adventures of an imaginative little lion who sees things a little differently from his friends, was inspired by her three children including Guion, her oldest son who also happens to have Down syndrome. Full of whimsical delights, discoveries, and beautiful watercolor illustrations, this book teaches children that appreciating individual differences and embracing others’ ideas can lead to unimaginable adventures and endless fun.
Macsovits developed the book to help others open up and have conversations about the beauty and significance of being different. She adds, “Guion and his friends show us how to see things from another perspective, which is so important. This encourages curiosity and helps children to be more open about other’s experiences. This is a universal message that everyone can relate to.”
This entertaining story includes beautiful imagery, fun activities and facilitation questions to encourage dialogue with children and their caregivers around the book’s many important themes.
The initial reaction to this delightfully designed book has been overwhelmingly positive. “The book shows children that trying to understand someone different from them can lead to new adventures and fun,” Macsovits concludes.
It sounds like a sweet story that would engage young ones. The bright colors would draw them in, too.
