My two younger boys have always wanted a skateboard. However at 6 & 9 I am not quite ready for that. Especially the 9 year old since he’s a little magnet for injuries.
Recently I was introduced to the PlaSmart Kick Flipper, which is essentially a skateboard without wheels! It’s designed to help kids develop balance and coordination and is targeted at kids age 5 to teen. Kick Flipper can be used on carpet, grass, or pretty much any smooth surface. Because of this my boys can safely use it both in or outside.
The Kick Flipper is great for my boys to practice basic skills like balance, footwork, and coordination. All of those are essential for skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfboarding. This toy isn’t meant to ride like a skateboard, but more for learning and doing tricks.
I think the Kick Flipper is the perfect way for kids that don’t already know how to skateboard to safely test out tricks. It is lightweight, and can be taken anywhere easily.
