We love beef jerky and you can always find some in our home. With that being said you can imagine that we have tried several brands and types. This time we tried Old Trapper beef jerky. Here is what we thought.
Old Trapper Beef Jerky ~ Product Review
Ever since I had my VSG surgery I have been eating more beef jerky than before. The main reason I like it is that it’s a very convenient and high protein snack. I love that it doesn’t have to be refrigerated, so I can carry some with me everywhere. That way I have a high protein snack whenever hunger strikes.
Recently we received a package from Old Trapper, they are an Oregon-based company that has been in the beef jerky business for over forty years! They were generous and sent us their four flavors: Old Fashioned, Hot and Spicy, Peppered, and Teriyaki. We were really excited because those are all our favorite flavors for jerky. Now the question was…would we like it.
We started with Hot and Spicy.
Since hot and spicy jerky is the hubs favorite we decided he would be the last to try it LOL. Diego and I went first, we both really liked how it had just the right amount of spice. It wasn’t overwhelming at all, but definitely has the heat needed to go perfectly with its name. It’s seasoned with spicy red pepper flakes and has a delicious sweet/savory flavor.
Next up was the Teriyaki.
This is my ultimate flavor when it comes to jerky. So to be fair I went last on this one. The hubs, Diego and Aaron gave it a try and really liked its sweet and salty flavor. I really liked how tender and juicy it is! This Teriyaki jerky from Old Trapper is definitely my favorite jerky. Its flavor is absolute perfection!
The Peppered flavor was next.
This flavor tends to be Aaron’s favorite so he went last this time. Again I really liked how tender and juicy the jerky is. Aaron liked that it offers a good, basic beef taste, and possesses a minor tinge of sweetness. This jerky contains no chile peppers, yet it has the slightest of spiciness to it.
Last but certainly not least was the Old Fashioned.
As Diego will tell you we left the best for last. Any old fashioned/original flavors tend to be his favorite. The texture just like the other flavors is notably more tender, and chewy without being tough. We all loved its slightly sweeter flavor (compared to other brands), along with its bit of tanginess.
Because we tried several types of jerky, and we all have our favorites, you can always seem to find several brands in our home. Until now we had not been able to find one brand that would give all of us what we were looking for. Thanks to Old Trapper that is now a thing of the past. We all absolutely loved the different flavors of the brand, and it will make keeping our stash stocked easy.
Another thing I liked about Old Trapper is their website. They offer a number of other snacks too, including snack sticks and beef steak sticks both in a variety of flavors, as well as an option to make a subscription-style recurring order.
