Quick and Easy Arroz con Leche Recipe


Being from Guatemala has given me the opportunity to grow up enjoying amazing desserts. But there is one dessert that ever since I learned to make it, I just can’t get enough of. That dessert is Arroz con Leche. It is very similar to rice pudding but with a more watery consistency. The original recipe calls for a long cooking time so of course I have tweaked it to make it easier and quicker. Now I can make it often since it’s so quick.


One of the key ingredients that makes this recipe delicious is vanilla. I recently received a bottle of Nielsen-Massey Tahitian Pure Vanilla Extract. I couldn’t wait to try it out in my Arroz con Leche recipe. It gave it an exquisite flavor. I received so many compliments from my hunny and the boys. Let’s get on with the recipe:


2 cups Rice

2 can Condensed Milk

4 cups Water

2 Cinnamon Sticks

1-2 tbsp of Nielsen-Massey Tahitian Pure Vanilla Extract

Sugar (to taste)

3 cups Milk



1. Place rice, cinnamon sticks and water in a pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat to low, simmer until rice is cooked.

2. Add condensed milk, milk and if your adding sugar  then add it now. I don’t use sugar because I find it sweet enough with the condensed milk.

3. Simmer on low heat for another 10 minutes until rice has absorbed the flavor of the milk and vanilla.

4. Serve and enjoy.
