Oh the things I do in the shower…
What goes on behind my shower curtain…
People do a lot of things in the shower. Some sing, some brainstorm, some relax. Me…. well that’s when I get hit with everything I can possibly think of. I always go into the shower thinking I’m just going to relax and get some peace and quiet. That never happens! Maybe it’s because if I’m home with just my 3 yr old I have to make it a super quick shower, because there’s only so much time he can be unsupervised. Don’t worry I leave the door wide open when I’m in the shower and we’re alone. When there’s another adult in the house (usually my mom, or my hunny) I get to take my time. Locks don’t matter in this house, because even the 3yo knows how to use a toothpick to get in when the door is locked. And when they don’t pick the lock they’re banging on the door asking for things. Yes their dad is home…no it doesn’t matter… daddy is not mom.
But even with all that ruckus, when I shower is when my brain gets bombarded with thoughts from all different areas of my life. I sometimes think about my friends and any conversations we’ve recently had. Or if we haven’t talked recently then I think about how they are. Sometimes in the shower is where I get the ideas about what I’m going to make for the meals of the day, or the next day if it’s at night. There are times when I jam to the playlists on my phone.
Regardless of the many things that I do in the shower I have never gone in and basked in the glory that is silence. Maybe one day….when the kiddos have grown up and have their own families to tend to. And even then I can imagine I’ll be missing the noise and ruckus that they now create.
