I’ve been wanting to write this post for a few days now. I never understood the addiction to The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. I guess it’s because I had never seen any of the shows. I don’t really get a chance to watch tv, unless it’s my daily novela. Yes 1 hora al dia, and, that’s because it happens to be on after the kiddies are in bed.
On Mondays my Facebook feed goes crazy with all those statuses de mis amigos. I’m sure you know what I mean, for example… “I can’t wait for hubby to come home to watch the bachelor!” , “Ay ay ay Juan Pablo!”, “Ya quiero que llegue la hora de ver a Juan Pablo.” and ” Can’t wait to watch the bachelor and the sexy Juan Pablo!” After seeing these posts (and those aren’t all of them) I have to admit, I was very curious as to what The Bachelor is and who exactly is this Juan Pablo that everyone finds so sexy.
So thanks to Xfinity on demand I set out to find exactly what it is that has all my friends watching. For starters I think it’s a little weird that one man (in Juan Pablo’s case) gets set up with not just 1 but 27 very desperate women, to find “true love” and marry. Hmmmm …. ok. I deeply apologize to all the fans out there, who really like this show. Let me explain why I think these women are desesperadas. They are absolutely stunning, bellas, Juan Pablo himself has told more that just 1 that she is bella. I totally agree! Which is what brings me to the conclusion that they are in fact desperate. I mean, why else would you willingly accept to go far from your loved ones, and get in a “cat fight” over a man you just met. These women are gorgeous, and appear to be smart, so why do this. Ok, so not everyone’s love life is just like a fairy princess’s (especialmente la mia) but I don’t feel that it’s a reason to “date” (if you can call it that) a man that is also “dating” so many other women. Call me old fashioned, but I would hate to be knowingly seeing a man that is not only seeing other women, he is kissing other women, and (according to the trailer for this week’s show) sleeping with other women. And the fact that I know who these other women are, would really make me say “Well, this is weird.” Now, I’m not naive and I know that times have changed but would you really be ok with this? I mean, doesn’t it feel like he’s cheating on them in a way?
Let’s talk about Juan Pablo Galavis. Is he as sexy as my Facebook feed makes him seem? ABSOLUTELY!!! Looks wise he’s very handsome, has a gorgeous physique, and his accent… That accent can melt any woman. Spanish isn’t called “La lengua del amor” for nothing. I’m not just saying that because I’m Hispanic, If you haven’t heard the man talk, you should. His accent will make you go weak in the knees. 🙂 Now that I got that out of my system on to more serious things. I find that he contradicts himself, a lot. He’s always saying that the most important thing in his life is his daughter Camilla. Which I think is wonderful, and the way it should be. He also says that he want her to always be proud of him. Well I don’t know about Camilla but if I saw a show where my dad was going around kissing several women trying to find me a step mom and sleeping around, I don’t think the word proud would be the one to describe how I would feel.
I do think that that this show has managed to wig me out, more than just a little bit. And that’s hard to do having seen my share of novelas in my life. We all know how juicy and complicadas novelas can be. However will I keep watching The Bachelor? I’m a little saddened to say… Yes. Not only to see if he really sleeps with the ever so desperate y resbalosa de Claire. But also to see if he actually picks one of those women to be his wife. Or will their hearts be broken, if he tries them all and can’t find one he likes?
What do you think? Will he sleep with Claire? Will he somehow conveniently not give her a rose and send her home? Are you a bachelor fan? What are your views on this show? Eres novelera como yo, cual miras? Please share your thoughts with me below.
Spoiler alert! Maybe I’ve already been chosen as next seasons Bachelor contestant.
That’s a season I wouldn’t miss Phil. 😉
