A good feng shui living room is one that invites positive energy in your home. Your living room should be calm, peaceful and a place where you can wind down any time during the day.

If your house has an irregular shape and the furniture is not arranged properly, you may attract negative energy into the house, and more specifically into the living room.

Take a look at the following practical tips which can be implemented to attract good feng shui to the living room.

Arranging the furniture

The sofas should be placed against a wall, as this will give support to them. Ensure that the main sofa has a solid wall behind it and the smaller ones have anything else like windows behind them for support.

After that, concentrate on the entrance. You should make sure that you have a full view of the entrance because if you don’t, you may miss out opportunities and get rude surprises.

Furthermore, avoid sitting directly under the beam since it is one of the main causes for headaches and frustration.

Again it is important not to place sofas with an L shape in the living room as it has a similarity to a poison arrow.

Choose the correct focal point

Place an aquarium in the living room as it is a form of natural entertainment which will bring you enjoyment and relaxation.

This is because according to the bagua (energy map of a given space in feng shui terms) of your living room, it is advisable to have an aquarium which will face the south east and has a rectangular or a square shape. If you prefer a round aquarium instead, then placing it in the south of your living room is best.

The reason for placing an aquarium in the living room is that it will bring good luck and financial stability, as per feng shui principles.

However, caution should be taken to ensure that no water feature is placed in the south, west, or northwest.

Mirror

A mirror can do a lot in enhancing the beauty of the living room if placed correctly. It will be able to reflect the beautiful scenery outside and adding beauty and light to the living room.

Also make sure that your mirror reflects only pleasant reflections and not eye sores like garbage.

Again, it is important to ensure that the mirror does not face the south wall and your reflection is invisible while standing at the entrance.

Fireplace

The fireplace is one area of the living room that you’d want to concentrate on. Note should be taken that the fireplace should be placed in the south of the living room since this position, according to feng shui, will bring you good luck and fame.

Moreover, if you decide to build a fireplace in the southwest of your living room, it will be good for your married life. A fireplace in the north east keeps you cool minded and enables clear thinking.

However, caution should be taken by not having fireplaces in the following directions: North, Northwest, Southeast or west of the living room.
