7 Dreamy Master Bedroom Ideas and Designs

The Master Bedroom is the place where most people spend a good deal of their lives. It’s the personal temple of couples and lovers and the most personal and private space a single individual has. It’s where you lay your head to rest, where you have your most private thoughts, and where you share your intimacy with a loved one.

The decoration of a master bedroom should be a kin to the personality of its owner or at least a reflection of the common things loved by the couple occupying it. You need to put some thought into it to make it special. You probably think that this seems a little overwhelming since this space is solely yours, but you will love to show it to visitors with these master bedroom ideas.

The overflowing existence of fashion trends and ideas for decoration can make the task quite easy if you need a little assistance to make the master bedroom your most treasured space. Sites such as architecturaldigest.com, remodelingexpo.com, and housebeautiful.com can offer a lot of suggestions. Let’s look at some of the most recommended ideas gathered online from professionals in the space.

1. Go for a Surreal Space

If you are the artsy type, you might probably want to consider abstract furniture: a bed positioned above regular levels, a mixture of unusual colors for your walls, individual curtains sets for each window with colors that match at first sight. The patterns with surrealism are endless, and they can spark your creativity to make you feel out of this world as you start the day or lay to rest.

2. A Rustic Look

Master bedrooms decorated with rustic furniture give these ambiances certain character and are often considered an expression of maturity to the people occupying it. While there is a lot of beds and night tables with rustic designs available, you can also choose weathered down vintage items such as wooden planks to create specific decor in a wall. The colors favoring these spaces are usually brownish or ochre.

3. Bring Your Coordinated Mess

If you are the kind of person that looks forward to having an endless number of books and documents to work in your master bedroom. You can pull off the careful mess look with a bed placed at the center and bookshelves as well as a tiny desk surrounding the space to place everything you need and keep it at hand. While the bedroom will look cluttered, it can also manage to look tidy if you keep everything organized.

4. Go for Elegant Symmetry

This is one of the classics settings and also very well-regarded decorations used by couples that have been together for a long time. The use of soft colors and symmetry in every aspect of the room will make tidiness stand out. The use of matching pillows, matching bedspreads, night tables, lamps and any part of the decor you can think of will favor this type of design.

5. Try an Industrial Look

It certainly is an imposing look for a couple, but it can work out if you choose the matching items to create the right environment. You can use tiled walls, slim furniture with metallic finishes and bed clothing with dark or grey color schemes. Depending on the amount of lighting that reaches the bedroom you can choose to include brown elements to make the metal in the room stand out even more.

6. Cover the Walls Surrounding You

If you are a fan of remembrances or if you like a good-looking image over a clean wall, simply go for it! You can paint your walls with clear colors if you are setting up portraits or pallet signs. You can also try covering one side of the room with wallpaper while keeping the other clean to offer an impression of an expanded room. If you rather enjoy hanging art or posters, you paint the wall on dark color schemes to make the frames stand out.

7. Make the Room Starlit

This is a great idea for romantic couples and fans of clear skies. While it can take a while to make the proper placement of lights, you can set them up on the ceiling and the walls surrounding you and light them up whenever you feel like sharing a night full of starts with your partner.

The Surreal room reminds me of Edward Scizzor hands !! <3 I love that movie I would go for this look just because of the movie. I do love the others and I always thought I had an elegant/industrial style.

These are fantastic ideas, thanks for sharing! I would LOVE to make my room starlit like that, I absolutely love stargazing but live in the city so it doesn’t happen as often as I would like. This would be the perfect solution. 🙂

The surreal design is a bit too psychedelic for me. I’d like to think the symmetry would work for me. Realistically, the organized chaos would most suit me. lol
