2017-disclosure

By now you might already know that I love monthly subscription boxes. Today I’ll be telling you about a RawSpiceBar. This monthly subscription is one of my ultimate favorites for many reasons. For starters the price is absolutely perfect! For just $8 a month you get freshly ground, small batch spice blends and the recipes that utilize them.

I love it because every month I get to try spice blends from different countries or regions! I also like RawSpiceBar because it brings enough spice blends to create 3 dishes that each serve 3-4 people. RawSpiceBar ships to the US with free shipping and to Canada for an additional fee.

This review is for the “Oktoberfest Spice Box!” I’m was really excited to see that this was the theme for October! My hunny and I love Oktoberfest and it brings back many great memories from when we traveled before we had the boys.

This recipes for this month were: Horseradish & Mustard Cabbage, German Chicken Schnitzel, and Caraway Cheese Soft Pretzels.

Schnitzel Spices, came in a 0.3 oz packet. This blend is a mix of juniper berries, cayenne peppers, bay leaves, and black peppercorn spices.

Horseradish & Mustard Seeds, came in a 0.3 oz packet. Next up is a delicious combination of toasted brown mustard seeds, toasted yellow mustard seeds, and horseradish powder. The recipe that came for this blend is Horseradish & Mustard Cabbage. We loved cabbage but I had never tasted mustard cabbage. After trying out this recipe I have found a new favorite side dish!

Caraway, Fennel, & Anise Bread, came in a 0.3 oz packet. The next spice is this blend with a mix of caraway seeds, fennel seeds, star anise, and coriander, and the suggested recipe is pretzels! We were super excited about this because the boys and I LOVE pretzels!!
I LOVE making pretzels, so I couldn’t wait to try out this recipe! I ended up not using this recipe however because it listed baking soda as an ingredient yet it doesn’t specify where I need to use it. This recipe also calls for yeast but it doesn’t say how much yeast to use. We make pretzels often so I just used the recipe we always use. I added the spice blend to the recipe and the pretzels came out absolutely amazing!

Once again RawSpiceBar came through with great spice blends! So if you like cooking with new spices and exploring different cuisines, RawSpiceBar might be a great subscription for you!

I love the idea of subscription boxes. There are so many that you can find something for anything you may want. I like to experiment with spices so this would be ideal!
