If you are looking for a classic love story with modern day drama this is it! I have read a few Melissa Foster books and I have loved each and everyone of them. This book however is my absolute favorite! This story captured all the elements I look for in a romance novel. This is an amazing story filled with strong characters, great chemistry and intricate storylines that captivate you from the start and do not let go. I just couldn’t put it down so I read it in 3 hours. In this story we meet Nate and Jewel. Both Nate and Jewel have unresolved emotional issues to deal with and their chance at a future together lies in getting through these issues. Nate blames himself for what happened to Rick (his best friend and Jewel’s brother) and dreads having to tell Jewel that his orders as Rick’s commanding officer may have led to tragedy. Jewel barely survived the loss of her father. Now with losing her brother, her fear manifests itself in an irrational devotion to her mother and siblings. This is the story of their emotional journey to healing and forever. Nate cherishes Jewel and is protective of her and Jewel is sweet and gentle, with a core of steel, but together they are like two halves of a whole. I don’t want to give any more of the story away but I will tell you this. This book is an absolute must read for any romance novel fan.
