NERF N-Strike Elite Demolisher 2-in-1 Blaster
I received the NERF N-Strike Elite Demolisher 2-in-1 Blaster by Hasbro for free from BzzAgent to test and review. I have 3 boys and they are Nerf-a-holics! The gun is very cool looking and light weight (my 3 yr old can play with it). My 9 and 7 year old boys enjoyed playing with it but it kept jamming and that caused for frustration on their end. What they did like is that the gun shoots very far and at a great speed!
My complaints about it are more those of a mom type. First and most importantly is that like I mentioned the gun jams. It was fine the first day because the darts were new but as they start getting used and get compressed they start getting stuck in the clip and then get stuck in the gun itself. I did like that Nerf has a good size door on the top of the gun to easily clear jams, but it does ruin your game play when your opponent is headed your way and your gun needs to be taken apart to un-jam a stuck dart. I think the problem with the clip could be an easy solution. I did notice they sell clips that are straight, the one that comes with the gun has a curve to it. So you could go that route if you don’t mind spending the extra cash.
Secondly the darts getting squished in there (holds 10) also contributes to the problem. Like I said was not an issue with new darts but after a weeks play the jams are becoming more and more frequent.
It is because of this jamming that I gave the gun 3 stars. How I rate products is : 4+5 star = exceeds expectations. 3 stars = meets expectations. 2 or 1 = fails to meet expectations.
Bottom line: It’s a good value in a fully automatic gun. It makes a cool sound when you prime it. The jams are seem to be something that can’t be eliminated due to the soft nature of the darts and the kids take one shot at a time.
