Miss Piggy & Kermit the Frog…

PigandFrog

Miss Piggy’s dreams of being forever next to the love of her life are finally coming true!

It’s all over the news today that Jim Henson’s family, including his daughter, Cheryl Henson, donated on Tuesday more than 20 puppets to the National Museum of American History. These puppets will accompany the earlier donations of Kermit, Oscar the Grouch and early Jim Henson creations.

The donation includes an original version of Miss Piggy and some co-stars from “The Muppet Show,” including Fozzie Bear, Rowlf the piano-playing dog, Scooter and the Swedish Chef. Puppets from “Sesame Street” were also included in the donation.  Joining the museum collection are Bert and Ernie, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover and my personal favorite Count Von Count, among a few others.

The Smithsonian magazine welcomed Miss Piggy, with a photo shoot. The museum even allowed her to pose wearing the real 45-carat Hope Diamond from the National Museum of Natural History. Truly Amazing! Having grown up watching “The Muppet Show” and Miss Piggy being my favorite, I would have loved to have be there. After all it’s thanks to Miss Piggy that I have all my “Glam” don’t believe me…ask my sister. 😉

The donation was made on what would have been Jim Henson’s 77th birthday. His wife Jane Henson died in April of cancer. Ever since she was diagnosed with cancer four years ago, Jane Henson spent years planning to find permanent homes for each puppet character, Cheryl Henson said. Other puppets are being donated to the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City, and to the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta.

So in the end true love does conquer all and finds a way for lovers to re-unite!

I can’t wait until March of 2014 when Miss Piggy will go on display! It’s a trip to Washington that I’m definitely going to take!
